IN SITU
IN SITU WORKSHOP – Saturday November 9th
Open workshop with mandatory registration and €1,000 in prizes
Filming our surroundings allows us to observe them closely and get to know them better. Similarly, filming and portraying the people around us allows us to build connections and experiences with our neighbors. Using the town of Vila-seca as a backdrop, the participants of the FICVI 2024 IN SITU workshop will create a cinematic portrait in short film format of a person or group of people from the municipality. The collection of short films produced in this workshop will form a demographic snapshot of Vila-seca and will be part of the FICVI IN SITU competition.
The short films can be valuable works that give a voice to the residents of Vila-seca, highlighting their stories and their connection to the town. These people do not need to be widely known or public figures. In fact, part of the creative exercise lies in observing the subtleties of our environment and the people closest to us, who often go unnoticed.
On Saturday, November 9, starting at 10:30 AM, the workshop will take place, where we will talk about what a cinematic portrait is, the various ways it can be made (technically and narratively), and review examples to prepare us for filming our short films. We will also do a practical exercise around the town to apply these initial technical concepts and gather ideas. Finally, after a brief lunch break, we will review the exercises and brainstorm ideas so that each participant can begin filming their short film, which will be screened at FICVI on November 14.
